He Chose Us First

The LORD did not set His love on you nor choose you because you were more in number than any other people, for you were the least of all peoples; but because the LORD loves you, and because He would keep the oath which He swore to your fathers, the LORD has brought you out with a mighty hand, and redeemed you from the house of bondage, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt.
-Deut 7:7-8

I love that God chose me first also (1 John 4:10). And not because I am great for I am worthless (Rom 3:12) but because the LORD loves me. This is repeated in 9:4-6 and 10:15. I love the story.

Not only does he choose the weak but he calls them into strength (Rom 4:17) for the world to see how great our God is. Yahweh don't play!

  3. Do you mean what Ashley helped me with? (Never end a sentence with a preposition). I really like the Bible Study Group, but feel like a little child learning. The original audience for Deuteronomy was the generation of Israelites who would soon enter Canaan. Since this book summarized the law for their future generations as well, those who followed after were also to understand and obey it (see, e.g. 4:9 and 4:39-40) Numerous New Testament references to Moses and Deuteronomy illustrate this book's importance. (copied from the introduction to Deuteronomy in my NIV Archaeological Bible. Is this legal and OK?
