Meaning of San Joaquin

Did you know the San Joaquin River (and county, etc) are named after the father of the Virgin Mary. http://www.virtuallodi.com/history/History.asp?sid=1 http://www.waymarking.com/waymarks/WM2H33_San_Joaquin_River

  1. Hmm, it looks like it was named in idol worship of Saint Joachim. Here is part of the catholic prayer to Saint Joachim: "By this singular privilege..." (being chosen to be the father of "Holy Mary"),"...thou hast become most powerful with both the Mother and her Son, so as to be able to obtain for us the graces that are needful to us;..."

I'm not needful for Saint Joachim's power to obtain graces (or "Holy" Mary's). I trust only in Christ's execution and resurrection.

  2. Nice Philip. I do have to say that you should not be the liason to a Catholic coalition. Unless of course the purpose was to tell them about Grace!

That is one thing about the Catholic church I have yet to figure out...why do they pray to Saints!?

  3. I meant the brethren brother, not the book.
